Meet Our Team

Dr. Heather Bunting

Dr. Heather Bunting

Owner, DVM

My name is Heather Bunting. I am the founder and veterinarian of Kindred Animal Hospital. I have dreamed of being a veterinarian since the age of five. I grew up with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish — pretty much any pet my parents would allow! I began working in the veterinary field at the age of 16 as a kennel technician in high school, graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Animal Science, and then graduated with my doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences. I went on to complete a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery in Los Angeles and then practiced in the Redondo Beach area. My Texas roots, however, could not be denied, so I moved back to the lone star state. After practicing at Bulverde Animal Hospital for five years I decided to pursue my ultimate dream and start my own practice.

My practice philosophy is to incorporate each individual pet’s and family’s needs while providing the highest quality medicine available. I strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by keeping your pet happy and healthy throughout every life stage. I strongly believe in decreasing my patients’ stress while in the hospital and want them to feel at home when they visit us. One of the best parts of being a veterinarian is you can love on your patients!

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and spending time on the river. I also tinker with carpentry; a trait passed down from my grandfather. I am an avid Texans and Aggie fan. My fur baby family includes Linus and Lynx, two orange fluff balls and Tillie, a bluetick coonhound, who you will probably hear before you see.

I am excited about the opportunity to care for your four-legged family!

Dr. Ashley Stumpel

Dr. Ashley Stumpel

DVM

Dr. Stumpel pursued veterinary medicine following a lifelong love for animals and appreciation of the emotional connection humans and animals share. She was born and raised in the suburbs of New York. She attended St. George’s Veterinary school and completed her clinic rotation at Texas A&M. Shortly after graduating she met her now husband, a native Texan, and made Texas into her permanent home. She is thrilled to trade the harsh winters of the Northeast for summer heat and Whataburger!

Dr. Stumpel loves to give her patients treats and provide a positive experience during their visit. She strives to provide a stress free experience for both patients and pet parents. Dr. Stumpel is a self proclaimed crazy cat lady, and she is an AAFP Feline Friendly certified practitioner. This means she has special education in feline stress free medicine. She has worked in both general practice and emergency veterinary medicine since graduation. She is a skilled practitioner in both medicine and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Stumpel is passionate about preventative care, and strives to educate and work with pet parents to provide gold standard care to all her patients.

Dr. Stumpel and her husband share a home with their two rescue pups, Ivy and Mueller, and cat Oliver. In her free time Dr. Stumpel enjoys exploring nature with her family, crafting, and reading.
