Meet Our Team

Dr. Heather Bunting

Dr. Heather Bunting

Owner, DVM

My name is Heather Bunting. I am the founder and veterinarian of Kindred Animal Hospital. I dreamed of being a veterinarian since the age of five. I grew up with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish — pretty much any pet my parents would allow! I began working in the veterinary field at the age of 16 as a kennel technician in high school, graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Animal Science, and then graduated with my doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences. I went on to complete a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery in Los Angeles and then practiced in the Redondo Beach area. My Texas roots, however, could not be denied, so I moved back to the lone star state. After practicing at Bulverde Animal Hospital for five years I decided to pursue my ultimate dream and start my own practice.

My practice philosophy is to incorporate each individual pet’s and family’s needs while providing the highest quality medicine available. I strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by keeping your pet happy and healthy throughout every life stage. I strongly believe in decreasing my patients’ stress while in the hospital and want them to feel at home when they visit us. One of the best parts of being a veterinarian is you can love on your patients!

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and spending time on the river. I also tinker with carpentry; a trait passed down from my grandfather. I am an avid Texans and Aggie fan. My fur baby family includes a fluff ball orange cat named Lupe and Tillie, a bluetick coonhound, who you will probably hear before you see.

I am excited about the opportunity to care for your four-legged family!

Client Services Coordinator

Mindy has a big heart for all animals! She grew up in a very small town in north Texas and has always had a house full animals. She has been with us since the day we opened in July of 2019! Mindy’s favorite part of this job is the opportunity she gets to interact with all the great pets and clients we see here. She currently has a thirteen year old mini poodle mix named Daisy that she adores. Mindy’s hobbies include going to the river and lake, getting lost in a good book, playing sand volleyball and going to Texas country music concerts!

Client Services Representative

Victoria grew up in a small town in deep south Texas; she was always surrounded by animals and would often take in stray cats and dogs off the street. She moved to San Marcos in 2017 and has worked in the animal industry ever since. Victoria has a 4-year-old husky mix named Scout that she enjoys walking and exploring the hiking trails of San Marcos with. She graduated with a Bachelors in English and works as a pet sitter so she can still interact with and continue to learn more about animals.

Lead Technician

Stephanie was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. She has worked as a vet technician for seven years. She got her love of animals from her grandmother whose farm she visited every summer. Stephanie has a bachelors degree in biology from the University of the Incarnate Word. During her free time she is happy being with her friends and family exploring new places and going to the movies. She has a cute tuxedo cat named Koda she loves very much. Stephanie also loves DisneyWorld and hopes to visit them all one day.

Kaylee has been a veterinarian technician for 3 years and still has such a passion for the profession. She has always wanted to work with animals and has had all kinds of different pets! She has a love for all animals but is excited to meet and care for your pet. Kaylee currently has two sweet pups of her own named Millie (pictured) and Charlie. Millie is her snuggle bug while Charlie likes to cause a little bit of trouble. When she is not at work she enjoys being outdoors, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Tillie is our hospital DOGtor. She has dreamed of being a DOGtor for as long as she can remember and takes her job very seriously. Tillie always gets her paperwork done, gives the best hugs, loves to test out all treats that are given out to make sure they are good enough, and is always willing to share her toys. Tillie has a human named Dr. Bunting who she loves to go camping and hiking with.
